Yael Naim

at den Atelier Doors: 7:00 pm

A singer/songwriter born in Paris to Tunisian, Sephardi-Jewish parents, Yael Naïm first hit the pop-music scene in 2001, but her debut was not what she had hoped for… She moved to Israel, kept on singing to make a living, but it wasn’t until she met up with David Donatien, a West Indian percussionist, in 2004 that she regained her desire to write and perform. Working as a group, Donatien and Naïm came together to record Naïm’s second album, Yael Naïm. Released in October of 2007, the album contains songs in French, English, and Hebrew, and includes a surprising cover of Britney Spears’ Toxic. Yael Naïm has been critically acclaimed the world over. Her single New Soul topped the charts worldwide – it’s truly inescapable, also due to Apple Computers using it in a commercial… And the success of this song made her the first ever Israeli solo artist to have a top ten hit in the US.
