Tricky

at den Atelier Doors: 7:00 pm

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

A glorious, uncompromising and defiant return to form as one would expect! Knowle West Boy is the best album in years from the British eccentric. Tricky revisits his old haunts in Knowle West, one of Bristol’s most deprived, troubled neighbourhoods. And from the thick, sonic grime to the brooding lyrics – this is Tricky at his best, basically. For the UK urban music legend – the man aka Adrian Thaws – who has spent more than a decade in NY and then LA, it’s a strangely nostalgic and fondly remembered account of his “white trash ghetto”. It sees him doing what he’s always done – putting a host of punk, dancehall and hip hop influences through a skunk-addled filter – but this time those influences have been reassembled in a much more coherent way. Lead single Council Estate is a football terrace chant set to a thrilling digital punk racket… Accompanied by a live band and a host of guest vocalists, the Tricky live experience is not to be missed.
