Keziah Jones

at den Atelier Doors: 7:00 pm

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

There is now a new and growing excitement surrounding Keziah Jones. Nowhere is this more evident than in his live performances. Anyone who has ever seen Keziah Jones in concert will testify that it is more than a concert – it is a theatrical experience. The energy between audience and band is tangible. His gigs have become synonymous with a spontaneous electric groove. Jones’s dark, soulful voice rises above a sleek combination of bluesy acoustic guitar, funk slap-bass and acid-jazz drums, all rattling along at such a tremendous pace that it sounds, at times, like a rootsier version of Jamiroquai. In terms of comparison, Jones is the perfect bridge between Terence Trent d’Arby and Living Colour against a backdrop of squiggly Jimi Hendrix wah-wah guitar licks. Always a magical and galvanising performer, the geezer is definitely best seen live.
