I Blame Coco

at den Atelier Doors: 7:00 pm

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Eliot Pauline Sumner aka Coco Sumner is the offspring of Sting and Trudie Styler, but let’s not hold that against her! After all, her reggae-tinged pop has won her and her band I Blame Coco a six-album deal with Island Records, so the idea that this is some rich girl’s vanity project should be dismissed right away. The 19-year-old, totally real and totally lovely Coco Sumner is preparing to launch her immaculately cerebral pop assault. Coco’s pop is just as picture perfect as Robyn’s – and very often, her lyrics are even more intriguing than Lily Allen’s… You’ve probably come across her current hit single Selfmachine, but make sure to check out her album, as with The Constant, I Blame Coco have dropped one of the finest long-playing debuts of 2010. A contradictory mix of deep insecurities and rather special musical dexterity. Certainly open to more than one interpretation, just as Britain’s best new pop star!
