New York’s Coheed And Cambria – one of the most respected progressive rock bands worldwide – officially started in 2001 as the brainchild of vocalist/guitarist Claudio Sanchez, the hay bale-haired frontman of the impressive outfit. The band’s releases are all concept albums – parts of an epic sci-fi storyline entitled The Amory Wars and set in a fictional universe – a saga about the doomed marriage of two characters, Coheed and Cambria, who “are convinced they must sacrifice their children in order to save the world from being infected by a virus that is embedded in their genes.” Wicked! Back on this planet, Coheed And Cambria are well known indeed the world over for their awe-inspiring live shows… and they’ve often been compared to Rush or The Mars Volta.
