Black Francis

at den Atelier Doors: 7:00 pm

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Yes! Head honcho of the influential Pixies, Black Francis aka Frank Black will be back at den Atelier for a show! Prolific in terms of his overall output – Black has influenced grunge music in general and Kurt Cobain’s Nirvana in particular – he has also concocted some of the most criminally underappreciated, guitar-spiked alt-rock of the ’90s, often lacing his songs with sneaky hooks and odd tempo changes here and there to keep the indie crowd on its toes. Since the much applauded Pixies reunion recently, Frank Black changed his name again to Black Francis… but, actually, the guy is called Charles Michael Kittridge Thompson IV. And his excellent new album, Bluefinger, is very close to the Pixies roots and it’s causing its creator to sweat up more of a storm than ever onstage – no small feat. Get up close and personal with one of the big guys in rock at his intimate club show!
