Tricky

at den Atelier Doors: 7:00 pm

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Originally, Tricky was a member of the Wild Bunch, a Bristol-based rap troupe that eventually metamorphisized into Massive Attack during the early ’90s. Tricky provided pivotal raps on Massive Attack’s groundbreaking 1992 album Blue Lines. The following year, he released his debut album Maxinquaye. Other true works of art, such as Pre-Millennium Tension followed. Tricky always moved on, never stagnated. After gaining prominence with a debut album that all but defined the trip-hop genre, Tricky has come to be recognized as one of the vanguards of a new musical revolution. Influenced as much by torchlight jazz as the beats of hip-hop, his style has literally opened the door to numerous artists that fill the electronica landscape today. Tricky is a unique and enigmatic musician, a celebrity in a genre that has few, and his story has been echoed by the many that have followed after him, admire and respect him – artists such as Björk, Neneh Cherry, Reprazent/Roni Size to name but a few.
