Lissie

at den Atelier Doors: 7:00 pm

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Catching A Tiger is a debut album that dreams beyond typical new artist parameters… Lissie sounds like one of the greatest female vocalists of a generation, arguably without even really trying. Lissie was born in Rock Island, Illinois, one of the Quad Cities on the banks of the Mississippi River. She’s a straight-talking Midwestern girl, all flaxen hair and big blue eyes, and this girl is smart and gutsy and tough, with a big old voice to match it! There’s shades of both Stevie Nicks and Neko Case in Lissie’s voice, a resplendent instrument that’s both husky and mellow, attuned equally to the epic and the intimate. Lissie is one of the sweetest revelations lately. Her country-infused Americana pop-rock is as close to shimmering perfection as it comes. All twelve songs of her debut album Cathcing A Tiger could be singles… When I’m Alone has been the first one to be released as such. Lissie has picked up praise and support from fellow artists such as Courtney Love, Band of Horses, Mumford & Sons and Ellie Goulding, who joined her onstage once in Brighton to perform Everywhere I Go…
