Keziah Jones

at den Atelier Doors: 7:00 pm

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

There is now a new and growing excitement surrounding Keziah Jones and his new record Black Orpheus. Anyone who has ever seen Keziah Jones in concert will testify that it is more than a concert – it is a theatrical performance. The energy between audience and band is tangible. His gigs have become synonymous with a spontaneous electric groove. Jones’s dark, soulful voice rises above a sleek combination of bluesy acoustic guitar, funk slap-bass and acid-jazz drums, all rattling along at such a tremendous pace that it sounds, at times, like a rootsier version of Jamiroquai. In terms of comparison, Jones is the perfect bridge between Prince and Lenny Kravitz with a dash of Ben Harper against a backdrop of squiggly Jimi Hendrix wah-wah guitar licks. Always a magical and galvanising performer, the geezer is definitely best seen live.
