Ghinzu

at den Atelier Doors: 7:00 pm

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

There is this “other” Belgian band, called Ghinzu, and everyone currently makes a fuss about them… and righteously so! A band with a relaxed, radical and original rhythm section, producing a soaring, elastic groove in perfect contrast to the sound of the guitar and doublebass. Ghinzu exudes the elegance in modern music. This vicious aesthetic evokes the essential elements in pop: bass duos, piano ballads accompanied by cutting breakbeats, distortions and self-deprecating humour. The lyrics exude a kind of venomous dandyism, a sarcastic yet tender vision that draws out social vignettes showcasing the heroes of daily sex and taunting the aristocracy. This exquisite finesse clashes with the controlled and jubilant anarchy of their live shows. Everyone has the right to boredom, and only a handful have the duty and talent to fight it – Ghinzu is one of them.
