Frank Black & The Catholics

at den Atelier Doors: 7:00 pm

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Frank Black emerged onto the music scene in the late 1980’s as front-man for the Boston-based band, the Pixies, which released five critically acclaimed records and jump-started a new genre of alternative music. After the Pixies parted ways in the early 1990’s, Frank Black began his well-regarded solo career. While the records he made with the Pixies, a band destined to grow in importance as years go by, are quirky and sublime, Black’s latest outings are flat-out four-four barn burners. He may be an indie-legend who dabbles in surrealism, name changing and singing like a scurvy-stricken dog, but Frank Black has a rock & roll heart. There are freaky, other-worldly lyrics, chugging guitars, off-kilter beefy vocals and sparks of genius… the kind of weirdo rock that inspired 1,000 bands to call themselves ‘alternative’.
