Punk, Rock

Death From Above 1979

at den Atelier Doors: 8:00 pm

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

After a decade away, the noisy Toronto duo are back to give modern technology a glorious kicking. It’s no exaggeration to call Death From Above 1979 one of the great lost bands of the last decade. Their 2004 debut album You’re A Woman, I’m A Machine combined furious math-rock riffs and ass-shaking basslines. On The Physical World, Sebastian Grainger and Jesse F. Keeler have squeezed garage rock, stoner metal and dance punk into a tightly wound mass of fuzz and force. DFA 1979 is a full-on assault: pummelling riffs played with big, ugly guitars overloaded with distortion, thundering drums and brattish vocals! They have returned hungry and wired to shake us out of our digital comas. Put down your fucking phone for one minute and give yourself over to the visceral power of their music.
