Introduction

Béatrice Martin is a Canadian pop singer-songwriter from Quebec, who performs under the stage name Cœur de pirate. Her solar first album, Cœur de pirate, featuring the hit single Comme des enfants, was subsequently nominated for Francophone Album of the Year at the 2009 Juno Awards. The single Comme des enfants even climbed to #1 on CBC Radio 3's charts; it was only the second French language song ever to top that chart. Béatrice Martin started playing the piano when she was only three years old. At 19, she has a lot of things to say about sentiments, loneliness & insolence. An amazing maturity, shown in 2008 at Montréal's Francofolies. Cœur de pirate had become one of the French-speaking world’s best selling records in no time.
